Wild Caledonia specializes in getting you close to many of the country’s must see species and landscapes and if you have always wanted to see nesting Golden Eagles, Peregrine Falcons and Ospreys then you are in for a real treat. Our holidays will take you to all of the main habitats that characterise the magnificent Cairngorms National Park.  A day spent walking in the sub arctic Cairngorm Plateau is always a wonderful experience and combined with extraordinary views of Ptamigan, Dotterel, Snow Bunting and Golden Eagle they are adventures that will live long in the memory.

We will be based in Grantown on Spey, the capital of Speyside and are within easy reach of some spectacular walks. An early morning stroll before breakfast in an atmospheric Caledonian Pine forest is a magical experience and made all the more memorable with encounters with Capercaillie, Crested Tit, Scottish Crossbill and browsing Roe and Red Deer.

Each holiday is backed by a professional support team of suitably experienced leaders and ecologists to ensure you are led to the very best locations to obtain memories and pictures of many of Scotland’s species and landscapes. We combine all of this with carefully selected picnic spots that could see us in a highland bothy with a crackling log fire, candlelight and a freshly prepared lunch of local produce or to secret site that affords us unrivalled views of nesting Eagles, Mountain Hares or herds of Red Deer.

After an eventful days walking it is important to come back to somewhere that is warm, comfortable and welcoming and our hotel in Grantown is all that and more. We will stay at the Grant Arms Hotel in the centre of the town and is an excellent base for our adventures. On return to the hotel, there will be time to freshen up before dinner. The hotel menu is a creative blend of imaginative cuisine and traditional Scottish dishes, all served in a lovely restaurant. Complimented with good natured banter and a drink or two we can retire to the bar for tea, coffee and to reminisce over the days experiences.

Above all, we never forget that you’re on holiday and this is important to us. We always take time to relax, get to know each other and even make sure if you need time and space then we will always cater for your wishes. When it comes time to say goodbye, we hope that you will find yourself wondering which trip you will come back on next and find that you have made new friends.

A basic level of fitness is required to enjoy this holiday and we will always tailor the itinerary to suit your requirements. However, in general terms each location is elected to be within most people’s capability and offers an opportunity to enjoy a fantastic holiday and encounter the birds, plants and mammals that you have always wanted to see.

We are pleased to announce that this holiday is operated in partnership with The Bird Watching and Wildlife Club. See more at www.bwwc.co.uk
