Each holiday is also backed by a professional support team of drivers and ecologists, some of whom are experts in their chosen fields, to ensure you are put in the best position to obtain memorable images of many of Scotland’s iconic species and landscapes. Many of the images on our website are David’s work and he has amassed a portfolio of pictures that capture the very spirit of Scottish wildlife. The photography holidays combine practical instruction in field craft, behavioural ecology and getting the very best use from your camera. The holidays are relaxed and incorporate instruction in the use of Adobe Photoshop to get the very best from your images. Relaxed evening seminars back at the hotel feature talks and slide presentations on Scotland’s top species and give you the opportunity to showcase your own holiday photographs. So, if your an experienced wildlife photographer wanting to obtain memorable images of speciality species, or to show friends at the camera club or have invested in a camera and would love to learn more about it’s capabilities and develop your own skills and knowledge of Britain’s wildlife, then a Wild Caledonia photography holiday is most definitely for you. The holiday itinerary is as follows and is flexible to ensure we make the most of the time, light and species during your holiday.Over a relaxed full Scottish breakfast, usually served at about 8am, the photography coach describes the day ahead, chosen with regard to the weather from a selection of options discussed with the group the previous evening. It is normal to have at least one early morning start during the trip to try and shoot sunrise images and species which are at their best at this time. But of course, this is optional if you prefer a longer lie! With a small group, normally with a maximum of 8 clients, the Wild Caledonia team will be able to offer you individual advice and tuition, as well as coaching the group together on certain subjects. As the holiday develops, a range of long lenses and cameras will be on hand for you to try and time to do your own thing and go back to sites and species that have caught your imagination. After an eventful day’s photography, it is important to come back to somewhere that is warm, comfortable and welcoming and our hotel in Grantown is all that and more. We will stay at the Grant Arms Hotel in the centre of the town and is an excellent base for our photography adventures. On return to the hotel, there will be time to freshen up before dinner. The hotel menu is a creative blend of imaginative cuisine and traditional Scottish dishes, all served in a lovely restaurant. Complimented with laughter and good natured banter we can retire to the bar for tea, coffee or a malt whisky or two and reminisce over the day’s experiences. Above all, we never forget that you’re on holiday and this is important to us. We always take time to relax, get to know each other and even make sure if you need time and space then we will always cater for your wishes. When it comes time to say goodbye, we hope that you will find yourself wondering which trip you will come back on next and find that you have made new friends. A basic level of fitness is required to walk to some of the photographic locations but in general terms each location is selected to be within most people’s capabilities and offers an opportunity to obtain fantastic pictures of species that you have always wanted to see. We are pleased to announce that this holiday is operated in conjunction with The Bird Watching and Wildlife Club. See more at www.bwwc.co.uk
